Copyright & Licensing
Biblang is built on scholarly source editions, each with its own licence. This page credits them and states what applies to the converted text.
The Biblang text
The Biblang form system, the software behind it, this website, and the regularized renderings they produce are © 2026 Ryan Phillips, trading as Biblang. The text is free to read, to print for your own study, and to teach from, including making copies for the people you teach. You may quote up to 1,000 verses in any work, provided the quotation is not a complete book and is not more than a quarter of the work it appears in. Redistributing the whole text, any commercial use, and any derived edition need written permission — ask through this site, and it is usually given for scholarly, educational, and non-profit work. The full text licence sets all of this out in detail.
The spellings are generated, not reproduced: every word is rebuilt from the grammatical description the source editions record, by the rules on the learn page. The short English glosses in the word panel are different — those are reproduced verbatim, so they are taken from a public-domain lexicon, as noted below.
Greek New Testament
- Text: the SBL Greek New Testament (SBLGNT), edited by Michael W. Holmes, © 2010 the Society of Biblical Literature and Logos Bible Software, used under its licence (CC BY 4.0).
- Morphological analysis: MACULA Greek Linguistic Datasets, © 2022–2024 Biblica, Inc., linguistics by Clear Bible, Inc., licensed CC BY 4.0.
- Glosses: the Dodson Greek–English Lexicon, by John Jeffrey Dodson, released by its author into the public domain; together with MACULA Greek (CC BY 4.0), used only to match lemma spellings to Dodson entries, and glosses written for Biblang where neither reaches.
How each is used. The morphological analysis is read as data: Biblang spellings are generated from its grammatical tags, and no part of the analysis is reproduced in the text. The glosses are different — they are shown verbatim in the word panel — so they are taken from a public-domain lexicon, which carries no conditions on reuse.

Text-critical notes
Square brackets appearing in the text (for example in Luke 24:40) are the SBLGNT's own text-critical brackets marking disputed passages, passed through faithfully.
