1 John 4 Iōannou A 4

1Agapētoir, mē pante pneume pisteuavōr, alla dokimazavōr teim pneumeim ei ek tou theou atō, hoti pollois pseudoprofētois exerchalē eis ton kosmon.Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2en houte ⸀gnōskavō tem pneumem tou theou; pantem pneumem hem homologatō Iēsun Christon en sarka ercharēnton ek tou theou atō,By this you will know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3kai pantem pneumem hem mē homologatō ⸀ton ⸀Iēsun ek tou theou ouk atō; kai houtem atō tem tou antichristou, hem akouavē hoti erchotō, kai nun en to kosmo atō ēdē.and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and which is already in the world at this time. 4vis ek tou theou avō, teknieim, kai nikavē autoin, hoti megoteros atō tos en vi ē tos en to kosmo; You, little children, are from God and have overcome them, because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 5autois ek tou kosmou alō; dia houtem ek tou kosmou lalalō kai tos kosmos autoiu akouatō.They are of the world. That is why they speak from the world’s perspective, and the world listens to them. 6nis ek tou theou anō; tos gnōskarōntos ton theon akouatō nu, hos ouk atō ek tou theou ouk akouatō nu. ek houteu gnōskanō tem pneumem tau alētheiau kai tem pneumem tau planau. We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. That is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.
7Agapētoir, agapaneiō allēloin, hoti tas agapas ek tou theou atō, kai pantos tos agaparōntos ek tou theou gennotē kai gnōskatō ton theon.Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8tos mē agaparōntos ouk gnōskata ton theon, hoti tos theos agapas atō.Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9en houte fanerita tas agapas tou theou en ni, hoti ton huion autou ton monogenon apostelatē tos theos eis ton kosmon hina zōaneia dia autou. This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him. 10en houte atō tas agapas, ouk hoti nis ⸀agapanē ton theon, alla hoti autos agapata nin kai apostelata ton huion autou hilasmon peri taiu hamartaiu nu.And love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11agapētoir, ei houtōs tos theos agapata nin, kai nis ofeilanō allēloin agaparō.Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12theon oudenos pōpote theasotē; ean agapaneiō allēloin, tos theos en ni menatō kai tas agapas autou ⸂en ni teleiorēntas atō.⸃No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is perfected in us.
13En houte gnōskanō hoti en auto menanō kai autos en ni, hoti ek teu pneumeu autou dōatē ni.By this we know that we remain in Him, and He in us: He has given us of His Spirit. 14kai nis theasonē kai marturanō hoti tos patros apostelatē ton huion sōtēron tou kosmou. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world. 15hos ⸀ean homologateia hoti ⸀Iēsus atō tos huios tou theou, tos theos en auto menatō kai autos en to theo.If anyone confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16kai nis gnōskanē kai pisteuanē tan agapan han echatō tos theos en ni. Tos theos agapas atō, kai tos menarōntos en ta agapa en to theo menatō kai tos theos en auto ⸀menatō.And we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. God is love; whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
17en houte teleiotē tas agapas meta nu, hina parrēsian echaneiō en ta hēmera tau krisiau, hoti kathōs ekeinos atō kai nis anō en to kosmo houto. In this way, love has been perfected among us, so that we may have confidence on the day of judgment; for in this world we are just like Him. 18fobos ouk atō en ta agapa, alla tas teleias agapas exō balatō ton fobon, hoti tos fobos kolasian echatō, tos de foborōntos ouk teleiotē en ta agapa. There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love. 19nis ⸀agapanō, hoti autos prōtos agapata nin.We love because He first loved us. 20ean tinos legateia hoti Agapamō ton theon, kai ton adelfon autou misateiō, pseustos atō; tos gar mē agaparōntos ton adelfon autou hon horatē, ton theon hon ouk horatē ⸀ouk dunotō agaparō.If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21kai houtan tan entolan echanō apo autou, hina tos agaparōntos ton theon agapateiō kai ton adelfon autou. And we have this commandment from Him: Whoever loves God must love his brother as well.
